Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP)
The Tax Installement Payment Plan ( TIPP) is a popular program which allows you to pay your property taxes on a monthly basis instead of one payment in July. By participating in TIPPs you don't need to worry about the July 31 due date or late payment penalties.
How does TIPP’s work?
Sign up to pay your taxes on the monthly payment plan any time prior to June 15th of thecurrent year (unless the prior owner was on the monthly plan.) On the day you sign up, a payment must be made equal to the total payments that would have been made had you signed up at the beginning of the year.
If you pay through TIPPS you don't need to worry about the payment deadline or late payment penalties. Your taxes are spread over 12 months, starting the last day of January, with your account being paid in full after your December 31 installment. Any returned payments are subjected to a $20.00 admin fee and a separate payment must be made.
Your installment amount is calculated by dividing your most recent annual tax levy by 12. This amount is paid through automated withdrawals from your bank account the last day of eachmonth.
When you receive your annual tax bill in May, your installment will be adjusted to reflect the actual tax levy for your June 30 payment, ensuring your account is paid in full by year end.
Last day to start TIPPS for the current year is June 15 each year (unless prior owner was on the monthly payment plan).
The TIPP payment is not transferable.
You must complete a new TIPP application for your new property.
In the event you sell your property, you MUST notify the Town of Sylvan Lake in writing 15 days prior to the next due date to arrange for cancellation of your next payment
-The new installment amount for the remainder of the year.
The date we will start withdrawing the new installment amount.
TIPP automatically continues from year to year.
All installment amounts are reviewed in December.
If an adjustment is made to your installment amount, you will be notified.
